The inverter specialist KACO new energy from Neckarsulm is launching a new series of hybrid inverters to the market. With 6, 8, 10 or 12 kilowatts at the interface with the photovoltaic generator, battery, and grid, the blueplanet hybrid NH3 inverters cover the common power classes for home storage systems and small businesses.
The inverters are compatible with batteries from well-known manufacturers and support the grid directive 4105, applicable in Germany, as well as grid directives for Austria and Switzerland. Certifications for other European countries will be added soon.
Clean energy for battery storage systems
The blueplanet hybrid NH3 inverters are capable of emergency power supply and form a self-sufficient stand-alone grid in the event of power failures, reliably supplying consumers from the battery and the photovoltaic generator. Their ability to supply high loads from the battery at full rated power sets them apart from conventional devices.
The system is also black start capable and enables solar recharging of the battery. This means that if the storage system runs empty during the night, for example, the system starts charging the battery after sunrise and then renews the stand-alone grid.
Intelligent sector coupling
The use of the Home Energy Management System (HEMS) "Leaflet HEMS - blueplanet edition" maximizes self-consumption. The optimal connection of switchable loads, such as an AC wall box for electric vehicles or a heating element for hot water generation, is automated. This results in genuine sector coupling, as surplus electricity is not fed into the grid but consumed instead.
"The system creates grid-parallel islands. The load on the power grid is thus reduced, especially when the system is used in conjunction with the HEMS from Consolinno in our customized blueplanet edition. This is the best way to consume self-generated energy smartly and efficiently, directly on site. That’s the energy transition in action," says Hamza al-Bazaz, Product Lifecycle Manager at KACO new energy.
Innovative monitoring, secure data storage
The new "blueplanet smartcloud", developed in collaboration with Siemens, sets new standards for advanced remote monitoring. The monitoring cloud combines convenient functions with the highest security standards when accessing the stored data.
Configuration of the inverters is carried out conveniently via an app. The app also offers a local view of the battery storage system with a fast update rate of ten seconds to detect load fluctuations, and fluctuations in photovoltaic generation in almost real time.
Flexible and expandable photovoltaic solutions
Thanks to the flexibility of up to three MPP trackers, the blueplanet hybrid NH3 inverters are ideal for photovoltaic systems with varying inclined roofs. The hybrid inverters can be supplemented with blueplanet NX3 solar PV inverters from KACO new energy. In this way, additional roof areas or existing photovoltaic installations can be easily integrated and used for battery charging. These expandable solutions offer unparalleled adaptability and enable seamless scaling and expansion of existing systems.

About KACO new energy:
KACO new energy, a subsidiary of Siemens AG, is a German manufacturer of inverters for photovoltaic systems and battery storage. The product range of solar PV inverters covers the full power spectrum for systems ranging from single-family homes to multi-megawatt solar parks. Since 1999, the Neckarsulm-based company has supplied over 950,000 inverters with a cumulative output of more than 20 gigawatts. KACO new energy was the first company in the photovoltaic industry to produce its inverters CO2-neutrally. Since 2021, German installers have continuously voted KACO new energy “Top Brand PV” in the inverter category. In 2024, the company celebrates its 25th anniversary. 2014 marked the centenary of the original parent company, which was one of the first manufacturers of inverters back in the 1930s.
