There is an increasing demand for large-scale PV systems to support grid management, and compensating reactive power – both during the day and especially at night – is one of these measures. For this purpose, KACO new energy has developed a pure reactive power inverter, the blueplanet 50.0 TL3 RPonly.

Functions

The blueplanet 50.0 TL3 RPonly is connected to the PV system on the AC side only. The number of devices depends on the scope of support the system is required to provide in terms of grid management. The solar park’s own reactive power requirements can also be taken into account, of course.Since fluctuations in the grid can result from a range of causes, the application goes beyond solar parks: the blueplanet 50.0 TL3 RPonly can therefore also be used for reactive power compensation in industrial or other large consumer sites.

The blueplanet 50.0 TL3 RPonly shares the outward features of the blueplanet 50.0 TL3 INT solar PV inverter. The advantage is that there are no special installation conditions necessary: The device can readily be used for wall-mounting out in the open.

The blueplanet 50.0 TL3 RPonly can be used to deliver reactive power in new PV systems as well as for retrofitting existing ones, and in combination with both KACO new energy string inverters and third party products. Plus: By using a purely reactive-power inverter, solar inverters do not have to reduce their own active power in order to match the grid reactive power. Instead, they can continue to feed in solely active power, protecting the park operator from yield losses.
